Symptoms

The severe pain associated with mesenteric ischemia usually occurs in the middle or upper abdomen about 15 to 60 minutes after eating, and typically lasts up to 60 to 90 minutes. Many people with mesenteric ischemia may lose weight simply because they want to avoid the pain that follows eating. Other symptoms of mesenteric ischemia include: nausea, diarrhea, constipation, flatulence, and unintentional weight loss.
