Matthew Philp, MD, Professor of Clinical Surgery at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University, offered insight to HealthCentral on the differences between Crohn’s disease (which is an inflammatory bowel disease) and irritable bowel syndrome, or IBS. Though the conditions share some similar symptoms, they have different causes and different treatments.
