Temple Update interviewed Jessica H. Beard, MD, MPH, Assistant Professor of Surgery in the Division of Trauma and Surgical Critical Care at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University, for a segment about research that was published in the journal Preventive Medicine. Dr. Beard led the research team, which defined the features of neighborhood mass shootings in Philadelphia using police department data and then examined media coverage of the shooting incidents.
